Andalucian Photography Holidays is based in the ancient spa town of Alhama de Granada, the jewel of Andalucia. Alhama is surrounded by mountains, lakes, stunning gorges, olive groves and historic buildings, offering wonderful opportunities for photography. The magnificent city of Granada, home to the majestic Alhambra Palace, is close by. Our courses aim to help you improve your photography and enjoy the process. The emphasis is on achieving the best possible results from whatever equipment you use – digital or film.

We work in and around Alhama for a couple of days and then travel to locations offering the best opportunities for landsape, travel, reportage and night photography. The locations include: Granada, where we photograph the Arab quarters, the Albaicin and Sacromonte, and the majestic Alhambra Palace and its gardens; El Torcal, where the 200 million year old rock formations span out like a vast moonscape; Montefrio, home to arguably the most beautifully framed village centre in Europe.

By using such diverse locations we are able to offer tuition on many aspects of photography, including appreciating light, complete understanding of your camera’s functions, composition and seeing the image. This is the basis from which we help you to create beautiful and lasting images. Our small group sizes guarantee you plenty of individual tuition, tailored to your level of ability. Technique is important and plays a significant part in your learning with us, but the courses focus on all aspects of photography. It’s all about seeing, composition and light.

Your tutor Alex has won 14 Fuji awards and has been a freelance photographer for 15 years, working all over the world. His work has been published internationally and his photographs have been exhibited in the UK, the United States and Spain.
